CHAIRMAN / PRESIDENT

πŸ‘ Are you passionate about hockey and ready to lead? Busselton Hockey Association is looking for a strong, strategic leader to guide our association into the future! As President, you’ll oversee decision-making, long-term planning, and ensure the Executive Committee operates efficiently across administration, finance, and club culture.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing strong leadership for BHA and its clubs.
  • Ensuring smooth operations across administration, finance, and social aspects.
  • Supporting committee members to keep the Association running efficiently.
  • Fostering a safe, enjoyable, and competitive hockey environment.

The President oversees the Executive Committee, ensuring all members fulfill their roles while staying up to date with governance requirements. This role involves chairing meetings, representing BHA at governing body events, and acting as the Association’s spokesperson when required. The President also provides reports to members at the AGM, and helps drive the long-term success of the Association.

SENIOR VICE CHAIR

πŸ“’ Senior Vice Chairman – Proposed / Transitioning to Executive Secretary

πŸ”Ή Important Notice: This role  is planned to transition into a more administrative position under the title Executive Secretary at the end-of-season AGM (September 2025). This change aligns with our updated volunteer structure to strengthen administration and governance.

If you're interested in playing a key role in supporting the President and Executive Committee, ensuring smooth operations across the association, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing administrative support to the President, Executive Committee, and subcommittees.
  • Strengthening the board with a whole-of-association approach to planning and management.
  • Ensuring efficient operations across the association.
  • Assisting in managing association business and correspondence.

The Secretary plays a key coordinating role, ensuring smooth communication and planning. This includes maintaining records of rules, policies, and activities, handling executive committee correspondence, preparing meeting minutes, and attending league and council workshops where required. The role also involves supporting key administration volunteers and assisting in preparing the AGM report alongside the Executive Committee.

JUNIOR VICE CHAIR

πŸ“’ Junior Vice Chairman -Proposed / Transitioning to Development Director

πŸ‘ Grow & Strengthen Hockey!

Passionate about player and coach development? Busselton Hockey Association is looking for a Development Director to lead coaching, training, and player growth across all levels.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Establishing and managing a hockey development subcommittee with experienced coaches.
  • Providing leadership and support to coaches, players, and training staff.
  • Ensuring effective development programs align with Hockey WA & Hockey Australia policies.
  • Strengthening the overall performance and progression of hockey in the association.

The Development Director oversees all hockey development initiatives, supporting coaches, umpires, and playersthrough training programs, workshops, and Hockey Ed online courses. This role includes, implementing evaluation criteria for player awards, and working with Junior & Senior Directors to ensure consistent player recognition. Additionally, the director will plan budgets, manage coaching resources, and liaise with governing bodies.

FINANCE DIRECTOR 

 πŸ“’ Do you love field hockey almost as much as you love balancing budgets?

Busselton Hockey Association is on the lookout for a Finance Director to keep our financial game strong.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Keeping track of the money—budgets, invoices, reporting, and all that fun financial stuff.
  • Making sure we don’t spend all our funds on new uniforms (no matter how cool they look).
  • Handling membership fees, assisting with grant applications and tracking fundraising outcomes.
  • Working with the board to plan for the future—because great hockey takes great financial planning.
  • Helping to ensuring that we stay compliant with financial regulations (nobody likes fines!).

 What We’re Looking For:

Someone who understands finance, whether you’re an accountant, bookkeeper, business owner or just really good at spreadsheets. A good communicator, who can liaise with 3rd parties (such as accountants) to help ensure we keep on top of our compliance obligations. A team player who enjoys sports and wants to help grow the game. Detail-oriented but relaxed —we want someone responsible, but not too serious!

This is a volunteer position, but you’ll be a key player in making sure our teams get on the field and keep playing the sport we all love. If this sounds like your kind of gig please nominate for the position.

SENIOR DIRECTOR

πŸ‘ Senior Director – Lead & Elevate Senior Hockey!

 

Are you passionate about senior hockey and ready to support players, coaches, and umpires? Busselton Hockey Association is looking for a Senior Director to oversee and enhance all senior competitions across the association.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing leadership and support to senior coaches, players, umpires, and volunteers.
  • Ensuring the efficient operation and development of senior hockey.
  • Working alongside the President, Executive, and Non-Executive Committees to strengthen the association.

The Senior Director works with the Development Director to improve coaching, training, and competition performance. Key duties include planning fixtures, coordinating Country Week teams, supporting club coaches and players, and overseeing training and umpiring programs. This role also involves budget planning, player welfare coordination, and ensuring compliance with Hockey WA and Hockey Australia regulations.

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of junior hockey within the association.
  • Working closely with the Development Director (Junior Vice Chair).
  • Supporting the President, Executive, and Non-Executive Committees in growing the sport.

The Junior Director works closely with the Development Director  across our junior competition.  Responsibilities include oversight, strategy and direction of our junior competitions,  implementing improvement programs, and working with governing bodies like Hockey WA and Hockey Australia. SPONSORSHIP & MARKETING DIRECTOR

πŸ“’Sponsorship & Markeing Director  – Being proposed to transition into Non Executive role on the House Committee to Sponsorship Coordinator.


Overseeing and managing sponsorship activities to support the Busselton Hockey Association.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Maximising sponsorship revenue to support the association.
  • Building and maintain strong relationships with sponsors for long-term retention.
  • Supporing the Executive and Non-Executive Committees in sponsorship management.

The Sponsorship Directo (Coordinator)r will develop and manage sponsorship packages, ensuring they align with the association’s goals. Responsibilities include securing and retaining sponsors, maintaining business relationships, updating sponsor details on the website and social media, and ensuring sponsorship agreements are fulfilled. The role also involves organizing sponsor signage, coordinating a sponsors' luncheon, and overseeing advertisement placements.

GENERAL SERVICES DIRECTOR

πŸ“’ Senior Vice Chairman – Proposed role transitioning to a  Non Executive role (on the House Committee) as part of the volunteer re-structuring.


A vital position overseeing facilities, infrastructure planning, and major projects for the Busselton Hockey Association.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Developing and maintaining a 3, 5, and 10-year facilities master plan.
  • Conducting a full audit of all facilities, including sheds and storage areas.
  • Establishing and overseeing a funding plan for major projects.
  • Supporting the Executive Board to prioritise and cost-out projects to ensure strategic development.
  • Working closely with project managers on facility-related upgrades and improvements.

The facilities coordinator will ensure facility projects are planned, budgeted, and executed efficiently. Responsibilities include liaising with local council, overseeing audits and surveys of current infrastructure, and securing funding for major projects. The role requires collaboration with appointed project managers for initiatives such as ground drainage, grandstand upgrades, resurfacing projects, and general facility improvements.
