Development and Skills Training
In addition to regular club training, Busselton Hockey Association is excited to offer a range of development opportunities for junior players during the 2025 hockey season.
🏑 Busselton Hockey Academy
The Busselton Hockey Academy is a four-week pre-season program designed for players from years 6 to 12, regardless of experience level. Led by top coaches from across the southwest, this academy is a fantastic way to get into great hockey form before the season starts and train with players from all of our clubs.
Whether you're a field player or a goalkeeper, this program is perfect for you! New to hockey? No worries! Players will be grouped by experience level to ensure everyone gets the most out of the sessions.
We are very excited to have Nic Arrold(Head SWAS Coach) design and help facilitate the academy, as well as Keith Old (Hockey WA & SWAS) involved in coaching, and they'll also run an interactive session with our local club coaches to improve the skills of both players and coaches in our association.
Academy Sessions:
- Session 1 – Sunday, 16 March – 8:30am to 10:00am
- Session 2 – Sunday, 23 March – 4:30pm to 6:00pm
- Session 3 – Sunday, 30 March – 8:30am to 10:00am
- Session 4 – Sunday, 6 April – 8:30am to 10:00am
💰 Cost: There will be a small fee for players, with the Busselton Hockey Association covering the remaining balance. Each participant will also receive our inaugural “Busselton Hockey Academy” training shirt.

Registration and payment for the event needs to be done in the members section the Busselton Hockey website and ‘Log in’(top right of web page). Using your existing RevSport Username and Password that you use for your club hockey.

To be able to register for the Busselton Hockey Academy you must first register with your club for the 2025 season, if you haven’t done this you won’t be able to log in. This ensures that we are all covered by hockey insurance for 2025.

Hockey Carnivals 🏆
Busselton Hockey Association will nominate junior representative teams for the following hockey carnivals this season:
- Bunbury Carnival – June long weekend
- Perth Club Championships – July school holidays
- Narrogin Carnival – Last weekend of the July school holidays (TBC)
🗓️ Training & Selections:
Training for these carnivals begins Saturday, 10 May and will run throughout school term 2. Stay tuned for more details soon!
Pre-Finals Skills Sessions ⚔️
In the lead-up to finals, we’ll offer two weeks of ‘pre-finals’ skills sessions for players in both our Year 6-8 and Year 9-12 competitions.
These sessions will cover essential skills and the rules and skills of penalty strokes and one-on-ones, plus refine core hockey techniques.
🧑🏫 Open to All: Whether your team is heading to the finals or not, all players are welcome! More details will be available at the start of Term 3.
Busselton Hockey Development Squad 💪
Additional sessions will be held throughout the season for players in the Busselton Hockey Development Squad. This squad is invite-only, with players selected based on their hockey skills, on and off-field behaviour, and participation in other Busselton Hockey events.
